How we check rates

Every rate on Airport Lot Guide comes from the airport's own published parking page, is restated in our own words, and carries the date we read it. This page says exactly how, so you can judge what to trust.

Where the numbers come from

How often

A job re-reads every official parking page once a week and compares it with the last reading. When the page changes, the rates are extracted again, twice and independently, and the two readings are compared; any disagreement is checked by a person before it is published. Every confirmed change goes on the rate changes page and on the airport's own rate history. A page whose rates have not been re-checked for 45 days says so at the top.

What the calculator does

It applies the airport's published rules to your drop-off and pick-up times: free minutes, the hourly or per-period step, the daily maximum per 24 hours, and a weekly maximum where the airport publishes one. It charges each started period, which is what the gate does. It does not know about taxes added at the gate (we note them beside the rate where the airport states them), online-only discounts, or holiday surcharges. The 1, 3, 7 and 14-day totals are computed by the same code when the page is built.

Our crawler

Our checks identify themselves as AirportLotGuideBot with a link to this page. The crawler reads each site's robots.txt first and obeys it, waits at least three seconds between requests to one host (longer where the site asks), fetches each parking page at most once a week, never fetches booking engines or status APIs, and never reuses any key found in a page. Airports that block automated requests are checked by a person in a browser once a month and marked as such on their page. If you run an airport site and want us to check differently, email hello@airportlotguide.com.

Corrections

Found a rate that is wrong? Tell us the page and what the airport's page says; we check and fix it, and every fix is listed on the corrections log.
